Let's mess up a little with new ExtJS Designer Demo!

Overview

For a long long time I've been researching on different RIA frameworks. So far I can mention a short list of major solutions including:

OpenLaszlo
JQuery
ExtJS
FLEX
MooTools
CURL
etc.

I had some experiences with most of them too, and studied that there are some KEY FEATURES for a Right-Brained person like me which are a necessity for using them in the process of development. The most important one, as far as I'm concerned, is a good IDE with REAL VISUALS! I mean a truly WYSIWYG style IDE.

well the ones I can mention that really do support this feature are FLEX and ... yup, that's all!

OpenLaszlo seemed that have had golden days with the support of Eclipse and IBM but now it seems like that age is over.

I also found some experimental solutions for ExtJS which were quite amazing and I hope that this post may help them take a big leap (they will do so anyway with or without me!).

EXT JS DESIGNER

Recently I found out that EXTJS company is introducing a new feature, called EXT DESIGNER... WOW!

But soon I found out that it's just a demo so far... DUH. So I tried to meddle with the code and see what happens!

With so little knowledge and the help of Code Beautifying and Mozilla Firebug I tried to trace the mighty multi-thousand-lined-designer and guess what! I made an extension for code generation! (well sounds like it was already there, I just found the way to expose it!).

so here you go fellas! I might share the mechanism too, if you are interested. :-)

just replace the file into the appropriate address which might be:

C:\Program Files\Ext Designer\Ext Designer Preview\deploy

How to use...?

Simply follow these steps:

First of all, you should manually run the designer.html file from the installation directory of the designer.
Design your form to some extent. For the first test I suggest using Window component since it has good visuals and is tested.
On the top-right of the page, in the "Component Inspector" window, select the root component you wish to export by Left-Clicking on it.
Now Right-Click on the component and click on the EXPORT TO WEBPAGE.
A new window shall appear. You can use the source of the new page as the result.
What?! That's all already!

For Experts

My knowledge is not so deep, so please feel free share new updates to the Export feature or make new ones.

I just injected the Export function to the end of the file. It's quite easy to find! The last function in the file shall be the one.
